On December 9, 1531, Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico. Over the days that followed, she asked that a chapel be built there so that she could show her love and compassion to all who sought her.

As a sign, roses miraculously appeared on the hill in December. When St. Juan Diego gathered the flowers in his tilma and later opened it before the bishop, the roses fell to the ground—revealing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe upon the fabric.

Nearly 500 years later, that image remains one of the most beloved images of Mary in the world, and Our Lady of Guadalupe is honored as the Patroness of the Americas and the Unborn.

For her tea, we wanted something that celebrated her connection to Mexico while still feeling unmistakably like Sacred Heart Tea.

So, naturally, we thought of horchata.

Traditional Mexican horchata is a creamy, refreshing drink made with flavors of rice, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar. Our tea-inspired version begins with naturally caffeine-free rooibos and layers in almond, vanilla, and real cinnamon sticks for a smooth, cozy cup reminiscent of those beloved horchata flavors.

Drink it just as it is, add a little milk or creamer for an even creamier cup, or pour it over ice for a refreshing treat.

And while you drink it, may Our Lady's words to St. Juan Diego be a reminder for you, too:

"Am I not here, I who am your mother?"
